Carolina Public Press is embarking on a potential statewide journalism project related to sexual assault in North Carolina.
Please join our award-winning team for a free public meeting on this topic on Wednesday, January 24th, 2019, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Cumberland County Library 300 Maiden Lane Fayetteville.
This event is in partnership with Rape Crisis of Cumberland County.
At this listening session, our independent, in-depth and investigative nonprofit news organization will convene an off-the-record, public discussion among survivors, advocates, law enforcement and legal experts with journalists considering when, where and how to cover issues related to sexual assault across the state.
We want to know what issues are being covered well, what questions need to be answered, and how prosecutors and the courts are handling cases across the state.
Our team will be on hand to listen to your stories, experiences, thoughts and expertise as we develop a potential statewide investigative reporting project in collaboration with other news organizations across the state.
The event is free and open to the public; you may RSVP here.
This listening session is the latest in a series of free, public community listening sessions organized by Carolina Public Press, whose staff will visit various parts of North Carolina throughout the next year to connect with readers, donors, volunteers and content-sharing partners on specific issues, concerns and questions facing our local, regional and statewide community.
