Carolina Public Press will present a free and public forum about domestic violence in Western North Carolina during its next Newsmakers event, which will be held on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Center for Graduate Studies of Asheville.
Panelists will discuss the challenges facing law enforcement agencies, nonprofit organizations, policy makers and others tasked with trying to solve issues related to domestic violence. Panelists include Buncombe County Sheriff Van Duncan; N.C. Council for Women’s Western Region Director/N.C. Batterer Intervention Program Director Kathleen Balogh; SAFE, Inc. of Transylvania County Executive Director Salley Stepp; and Meridian Behavioral Health Services OSP Clinician Marie Romeo. Journalists with Carolina Public Press will moderate the event, which includes networking, a panel discussion and audience Q&A.
The event is sponsored by Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Center for Graduate Studies of Asheville, Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College and Self-Help Credit Union.
