ASHEVILLE – The U.S. Forest Service National Forests in North Carolina plans to conduct prescribed burns in the Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests later this month and into November if weather conditions are favorable.
The agency will conduct burns on approximately 4,000 acres in the two national forests.
Prescribed burns reduce woody debris and hazardous fuels that could contribute to high-severity fires. These burns also produce healthier, more diverse and more resilient forests, according to the agency. Click here to learn more.
