Press release from the office of Gov. Pat McCrory:

Gov. Pat McCrory has instructed the N.C. Department of Public Safety and the North Carolina National Guard to step up security measures at the NCNG recruiting centers, armories and readiness centers statewide, according to a press release issued on Sunday. The heightened security measures are in response to the shootings at the two military recruiting centers in Chattanooga, Tenn., that left four United States Marines and one Navy sailor dead.

“We will be vigilant in protecting those who protect us,” McCrory said. “These men and women are putting their lives on the line to serve our country, and it’s our responsibility to ensure everything that is within our power to do for their safety is done.”
