Before you go …
If you like what you are reading and believe in independent, nonprofit, nonpartisan journalism like ours—journalism the way it should be—please contribute to keep us going. Reporting like this isn’t free to produce and we cannot do this alone. Thank you!
We have selected two winners, so this is now closed. Congratulations to Amy Feldman, of Rutherfordton, and Jen Chandlee, of Asheville. Thank you for your support and interest in Carolina Public Press!

Here’s a chance to support Carolina Public Press, area students and locally grown businesses.

The next 100 new people to subscribe to the Carolina Public Press mailing list will be entered into a drawing to win a “Go Local Card,” a loyalty card offered by the Asheville City Schools Foundation, with the support of the Asheville Grown Business Alliance.
The card gives you a variety of perks — everything from discounts and free trials to waiving of membership fees and other deals — on goods and services in Asheville and Buncombe County, and subscribing to Carolina Public Press is free.
There’s a long list of participants, including Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company, Black Dome, Dancing Bear Toys, Creperie Bouchon and many others.
The foundation has generously donated two cards, so we’ll have two winners among the next 100 new subscribers. Thank you to the Asheville City Schools Foundation and the Asheville Grown Business Alliance for their support!
